Jackie Chan's movies risk becoming cliches

30 Jul – Despite raking in hundreds of millions at the box office, and that is in China alone, fans of Jackie Chan admit that the actor may have been trapped in a series of clichés in new movie, "Skiptrace".

As reported on ECNS News, most of the audiences who watched the new Sino-American movie, co-starring Fan Bingbing and Johnny Knoxville, stated that the movie was no different than Jackie's previous works.

This includes a buddy cop crime plot, overused stunts that have been recycled time and time again in Jackie's previous movies, a little bit of fan service, as well as funny dialogues that weren't quite there.

The movie has also received a mediocre score on Chinese movie review site, douban.com, with only 5.8 points out of ten.

Jackie previously revealed that "Skiptrace" is a project 25 years in the making. He disclosed that he first planned to cast Jet Li in his cop character, while he would play Knoxville's role as the gambler. His explanation may clarify why the movie felt like all his other past projects.
