J K Rowling Got An Important Harry Potter Date Completely Wrong

‘Harry Potter’ author J K Rowling has caused a Twitter meltdown.

JK Rowling took to Twitter today to send a message to those heading back to school… and it referenced the first day at Hogwarts for Harry Potter’s son, Albus Severus Potter. But there’s a slight problem - she’s got the date wrong.

“If you’re at King’s Cross, the Potter, Granger-Weasley and Malfoy families are there too,” she said. “Albus Severus starts school today. #19YearsLater”

It’s a reference to the epilogue of the final book, ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows’ which sees the original ‘Harry Potter’ kids dropping their kids off at Platform 9 ¾ for their first year at Hogwarts.

The scene is set 19 years after the Battle of Hogwarts - a conflict which took place on 2 May 1998 and essentially concluded the original ‘Harry Potter’ series. The final line of the book reads: ‘The scar had not pained Harry for nineteen years. All was well.’

But quick-thinking ‘Harry Potter’ fans soon realised that J K Rowling has got her dates confused - it’s actually only 18 years later… which means the important moment won’t happen for another year.

And it seems they haven’t taken it well.

Of course, J K Rowling was forced to admit defeat… and ended up a little red faced after admitting that she’d got it wrong.

“I got the year wrong,” she said via Twitter. “Blame #CursedChild! In my head it’s already 19 years later! #BackToHogwarts.”

This means that Albus Severus Potter won’t be heading to Hogwarts until next year. So you can probably expect another ‘poignant’ tweet a year from now. That is, unless J K Rowling gets the date wrong yet again.
