J. Cole and Puma Are Releasing a Shoe That Wasn’t Supposed to Ever Drop — and It May Never Return

Puma and rap megastar J. Cole have a sneaker coming soon that wasn’t supposed to see the light of day.

The German athletic giant revealed the RS-Dreamer Proto, the newest look in the Dreamer line and one that Puma said was a personal favorite of J. Cole. According to the brand, the forthcoming look is the original prototype design, which was inspired by the rapper’s vision and Puma technology.

The upper of the Puma RS-Dreamer Proto is predominantly white with hits of the brand’s steel gray hue, blue, magenta, neon green and black throughout. Steel gray also appears on the outsole.

The Puma RS-Dreamer Proto is scheduled to arrive via Puma.com on April 2 at 10 a.m. ET. It will also be available at the brand’s flagship store in New York City and all of the Foot Locker retail banners. The shoe will come in both adult and kids’ sizing, retailing for $125 and $90, respectively.

What’s more, Puma hinted that this colorway may never return after it makes its retail debut.

Puma announced that J. Cole was joining the brand as an ambassador in February 2020, and in July of the same year revealed his debut signature basketball shoe, the RS-Dreamer. To start 2021, Puma revealed his follow-up look, the Dreamer 2, which debuted in the yellow and black “January 28” colorway — a nod to the rapper’s birthday and song of the same name from his “2014 Forest Hills Drive” album.
