J. Balvin performs at Super Bowl ahead of new album release

The Colombian reggaetonero took Miami's Hard Rock Stadium alongside Jennifer Lopez during the much-anticipated Super Bowl LIV Halftime Show on February 2.

Balvin joined the 50-year-old superstar onstage, first to rap a few bars of his Major Lazer collaboration "Que Calor," and then for an energetic rendition of 2018's "Mi Gente" with the help of Lopez.

During his surprise performance, the singer-songwriter also debuted his new rainbow-packed Air Jordan 1, with raw-hemmed edges and his signature Happy Face logo emblazoned above the heel of each shoe.

Details about the footwear are still scarce at this date, although Balvin is the first Latinx musician to collaborate with Nike on the iconic sneaker line.

In addition to performing alongside Lopez at the Super Bowl LIV Halftime Show, the Colombian superstar recently announced that his new album, "Colores," will arrive in March.

The full-length, whose cover art was designed by Japanese artist Takashi Murakami, will mark Balvin's sixth solo studio effort, following 2018's "Vibras."

It will feature the previously issued "Blanco" and "Morado," with the 34-year-old singer teasing that he will drop more singles from "Colores" ahead of its release.

While his new solo album is on its way, Balvin's latest collaboration with Rosalía, "Con Altura," won Best Urban Song at the 2019 Latin Grammy Awards.

The reggaetonero also amassed several nominations at the 2020 Grammy Awards for his 2019 joint album with Bad Bunny, "Oasis," including in the categories for Best Latin Rock, Urban or Alternative Album.
