A high fashion label has been mocked for designing a pair of shoes that resemble instant noodles.

The shoes are from Bottega Veneta’s autumn 2020 pre-collection.

The likeness was flagged by fashion watchdog Instagram account @dietprada, which has 1.6 million followers. The account regularly shares examples of designers imitating one another – although it has taken something of a different tack in comparing shoes to fast food, in this case.

It shared a side by side picture of a compressed instant noodle nest with a close up of the yellow, open-toed mule style shoe which has a woven design on it, drawing attention to the uncanny likeness between the pair.

Followers had a field day in the comments section.

Some suggested the shoe design was “ruined” for them, with one writing, “Stop ruining things for people,” and another adding, “Oh nooo I want to unsee.”

Others simply felt hungry at the side of the “instant noodle shoes”.

One wrote, “Now I want to eat a pair of shoes,” while another user commented, “Now I’m hungry.”

However, it seemed like the old adage of “any publicity is good publicity” held true for some – with comments such as “Yeah still want them tho lol” [sic] and “Makes me want them even more honestly.”

Finally, a user shed light on the design feature, saying it was “Italian style straw”.

“It’s just done in the typical Italian straw style, definitely isn’t inspired by ramen noodles. Pot noodles crammed together do not precede this Italian method,” they wrote.
