"Insidious" star is next to join "The Grudge" reboot

What do "Insidious" and "The Grudge" have in common?

22 Mar – Another new name has been added to the cast of "The Grudge" reboot as "Insidious" star Lin Shaye is the latest actress to be announced as part of it.

The 75-year-old actress will join the Nicolas Pesce-directed movie alongside Andrea Riseborough, Demián Bichir, and John Cho in an unspecified role, according to Variety.

Shaye is no stranger to horror movies as she is regarded as a scream queen due to her part in horror classics like "A Nightmare on Elm Street" and "Critters"; and also being in modern horror flicks like "Ouija" and the "Insidious" franchise as Elise Rainier, which is her most notable role to date.

She was last seen in the fourth "Insidious" movie, "Insidious: The Last Key", and will be appearing in "Herbert West: Reanimator", "Killing Winston Jones", and "Los Angeles Overnight", all set to release this year.

Lin Shaye is moving from her "Insidious" set to the new "The Grudge" reboot.

"The Grudge" is a reboot of the 2004 movie with the same name, led by Sarah Michelle Gellar, followed by two sequels in 2006 and 2009.

The movie itself is a remake of the popular Japanese horror franchise, "Ju-on", which influenced Hollywood to retell famous Japanese horror movies in an American setting.

The reboot is scheduled to start filming this May.
