Inhumans: Iwan Rheon cast as Maximus The Mad!

He was the biggest, baddest bastard on Game of Thrones (apologies to Joffrey Baratheon), and now he’s about to become a part of the Marvel TV universe. Welsh actor Iwan Rheon a.k.a. Ramsay Bolton, has been cast in Marvel’s Inhumans as Maximus The Mad!

The character already sounds right up Rheon’s alley. Brother to Black Bolt, king of the Inhumans, Maximus is a sort of Iago: Whispering, plotting, scheming and with ambitions for his brother’s throne. Oh, and did we mention that he’s mentally unstable and has mental powers too?

Jeph Loeb, Head of Marvel Television and Inhumans executive producer, perfectly summed up why Rheon has been cast in the ABC/Marvel live-action series:

“Iwan’s ability to be charming, roguish, and still completely unexpectedly dangerous were all the different sides we needed to bring the character to life. We’re thrilled to have him on board.”

Rheon should be perfect for the role of Maximus, though one sincerely hopes he’ll be a lot less rapey/torturing/sadistic this time round. It is network TV after all, so his baddie shouldn’t be quite so extreme.

Just in case you needed reminding (again), the Inhumans are a race of super-humans with “diverse and singularly unique powers,” as Marvel puts it. They live on the Moon and there have already been many Inhuman characters appearing on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

After debuting in IMAX theaters in early September and running for two weeks, “Inhumans” will premiere on ABC on Tuesday, September 26.
