For those of us who came of age in the late 2000s, Feist’s The Reminder was likely part of our heavy rotation. It’s one of those instantly iconic releases, and it catapulted its creator onto big stages around the world.

But the Canadian singer-songwriter has been on a sort of hiatus for quite some time. Her last album, Metals, came out in 2011. The last musical thing she released? An ode to Gord Downie, the lead singer behind The Tragically Hip. (Which is a band/fandom I’ll let a Canadian explain.)

So when we heard that Feist is reportedly releasing a new album in April? We’re welcoming that news with open arms. (And ears.)

Fans first gleaned her comeback through a low-key festival show announcement. Feist is making a stop at Bon Iver’s Eaux Claires festival, her first live show since 2014. Then, a new interview she did with the Huffington Post Canada dropped this line: “Fans can expect her long-awaited follow-up in April as well as her vocals on the upcoming Broken Social Scene record.”

With that, one of indie folk’s prodigal daughters is officially back. We can’t wait to hear what she’s been working on. And until then, we’ll be jamming out to some of our favorite Feist tunes:
