A remake of 90s sex drama Indecent Proposal is on the way, and being penned by the screenwriter of Emily Blunt thriller The Girl of the Train.

Erin Cressida Wilson, who’s also writing Disney’s upcoming live-action Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, will reimagine the agonising premise for a new generation of movie-goers.

There’s no word yet on who might take up the lead roles.

But the original saw Robert Redford lock horns with Woody Harrelson over his wife Demi Moore.

Redford was the wealthy businessman who makes the struggling high school sweethearts an offer they can’t refuse after they lose all their investment money in Las Vegas – one night with Moore’s Diana for one million dollars.

The novel on which the movie was based, by Jack Engelhard, found an Arabic businessman making the offer to a young Jewish man, and there will likely be some kind of modern reimagining in this new take.

Directed by Adrian Lyne, who also helmed erotic dramas like Fatal Attraction and 9 ½ Weeks, it was released in 1993.

It was a smash hit for Paramount, making over $266 million from a $38 million budget.

The critical reception was rather less glowing, however, and it ended up scoring three Golden Raspberry gongs, for Worst Picture, Worst Supporting Actor for Woody Harrelson and Worst Screenplay.
