For two years, The Lodge & Spa at Brush Creek Ranch in Saratoga, Wyoming, has dominated Travel + Leisure’s World’s Best Awards, which showcases the favorite destinations of our well-traveled readers. In 2023, Brush Creek Ranch was recognized as the best resort in Wyoming, and in 2024, it topped the list again, beating out properties like Amangani and The Cloudveil in Jackson.

The Lodge & Spa at Brush Creek Ranch is a working cattle ranch with 30,000 secluded acres of wide-open space, grazing horses, and private fishing. If you’re looking for a luxury dude ranch, this is it. And while the summers at Brush Creek Ranch are beautiful, winter is also special — especially if you ski or snowboard.

The ranch has its own private ski area with 600 acres of untouched snow. Only 16 guests at Brush Creek can play on the ranch’s private Green Mountain ski hill at a time, offering skiers and boarders plenty of space to explore the depths of Wyoming's iconic snowfall.

Green Mountain is located in Wyoming’s Medicine Bow National Forest, a short drive from the entrance of Brush Creek Ranch. To get there, you’ll take a tracked ranger to the base of Green Mountain where you’ll meet your guide at the Rendezvous Yurt. Inside the yurt, your boots will be warmed by a wood-burning stove while you get suited up in head-to-toe Rossignol gear, including outerwear, accessories, and your skis or snowboard.

From there, you’ll take a heated snowcat to the top of the mountain to enjoy the view before dipping into one of Green Mountain’s 12 groomed runs or six graded trails with your guide. Later in the day, you’ll be treated to a gourmet catered lunch with spectacular views. The private experience is void of lifts or lines, and you and your 15 ski partners will have a whopping 1,200 vertical feet of terrain all to yourselves.

Green Mountain at Brush Creek Ranch is typically open and available from December to mid-April, snow and weather permitting.

In addition to skiing at your own private ski area, winter at Brush Creek introduces guests to activities like snowmobiling, ice fishing, and winter horseback riding. There is also a highly-rated spa with a sauna and steam room, which is the perfect way to warm up after a day out in the snow.

Brush Creek Ranch also has a strong emphasis on food — and is an all-inclusive. The Farm is a fully functioning food compound with its own creamery, bakery, and greenhouse. It also has a distillery with a 94-yard wine cellar.

The Lodge & Spa at Brush Creek Ranch is a three-hour drive from the Casper/Natrona County International Airport (CPR) in Casper, Wyoming, and 3.5 hours from Denver International Airport (DIA).
