I'm Incredibly Hyped for 'Monarch: Legacy of Monsters'
Godzilla fans are eating good this year. Not only is the upcoming Japanese live-action film Godzilla: Minus One set to premiere this December, but AppleTV+ also has an entire Godzilla series coming our way. Titled Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, the king of all monsters will return in a brand new story that follows the events of Warner Bros. expanding Monsterverse—which also includes King Kong, Rodan, and Ghidorah from 2021's aptly titled Godzilla vs. Kong.
In a short teaser revealed by Apple below, the series looks like a roaring good time. Call me crazy, but I'm always down for a giant monster fight. Monarch also has a great casting choice going for it, in both Kurt Russell and his real-life son, Wyatt. Set across multiple time periods (and multiple monsters!), Wyatt Russell will play a younger version of his father's main character, Army officer Lee Shaw. If that isn't cool enough to drive you to the series, remember that Godzilla is here as well. Cities beware! He's huge and he's angry.
According to a press release, the series will "track two siblings following in their father’s footsteps to uncover their family’s connection to the secretive organization known as Monarch." The best past? It doesn't look bad! The first two episodes of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters premieres on AppleTV+ on November 17, with the series set to run for 10 episodes in total. Even more, Warner Bros. plans to immediately follow-up the series with a film titled Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire next April. We're about to be absolutely drowning in Godzilla content, and I couldn't be any happier.
