The Golden Globes brings the world’s biggest stars together but for one pair it was rather awkward.

Idris Elba has long been tipped to replace Daniel Craig as James Bond and the two actors just so happened to be sat together at the ceremony.

Elba posted a selfie with Craig to highlight how “awks” the situation might have been given that he is meant to be gunning for the 007 role.

The Yardie director has been having to shut down rumours for years about him potentially becoming the next Bond and he’s often made a joke out of it.

He previously trolled fans by tweeting “My name’s Elba, Idris Elba,” which sent social media into a tizzy thinking he had confirmed he would be the next 007.

“I’m not meant to be teasing,” he told Sky News. “But you’ve got to laugh it’s such an incredible rumour that has gotten out of hand – and hey, why not?”

Craig, who was at the Golden Globes to support his wife Rachel Weisz, who had been nominated for Best Supporting Actress in Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy for her role in The Favourite, is in the midst of making Bond 25.

The actor has played the British spy four times previously but for this film he also takes on the role of producer.

Danny Boyle was originally meant to direct the film but he dropped out late last year due to creative differences, and was replaced by Cary Fukunaga.

Bond 25 is expected in cinemas on 14 February, 2020.
