A woman has opened up about the devastating moment she found out her husband had secretly had a vasectomy.

The couple met five years ago and have been married for three, but unbeknown to her, he had a vasectomy 10 years ago after having two children with his first wife.

Taking to Reddit, the woman revealed the couple had been ‘trying’ to have a baby with no luck, and they had even turned to using IVF to help conceive.

“We opted to do IVF in Dec 2018 which was unsuccessful,” she wrote.

“Last month I looked at all our test results and it hit me that his zero sperm count several times on sperm analysis can’t be normal and suspected vasectomy.”

When she confronted him, he admitted he had a vasectomy but had hoped it would “reverse itself naturally” and didn’t say anything.

“I feel very angry, betrayed and hurt that he allowed me to go through the emotional roller coaster of thinking I’m infertile and to even suggest IVF, while he knew what the problem for us not falling pregnant was his vasectomy,” she said.

“I don’t have children. If I had known five years ago that he didn’t want any more children, I could have made an informed decision to stay with him or not. He took that choice from me.

“It is difficult to trust him now. Should I stay or is should I divorce him,” she concluded the post.

As expected, people were left outraged by the husband’s blatant lie, especially given how expensive and emotionally taxing IVF is.

“Holy sh**, he let you go through all of that knowing he was sterile? He’s vile,” one person wrote.

“Letting her go through all that is just cruel. IVF is not an easy time. I don’t know how you could ever forgive him for that,” another admitted.

“Jesus. That is an immense betrayal. I can’t even imagine how it must feel. That is certainly grounds for a divorce,” was another response.

Even people that didn’t want children themselves agreed this was definitely not the right way to go about it.

“This is vile and unforgivable,” one person wrote. “I don’t want kids. Never have, not even when I was young (and everyone told me I would change my mind). But that’s a choice everyone should make for him/herself.”
