Hummingbird Music files lawsuit against GEM Tang

4 Apr – GEM Tang's estranged management agency Hummingbird Music is suing the singer over breach of her contract.

As reported on On CC, on 28 March, the company officially submitted a lawsuit against the singer, stating that GEM has signed a second contract renewal in 2014 following a five-year renewal in 2012, which means leaving the company now would be a breach of contract.

Hummingbird claimed that the second renewal stipulated that the singer will be a part of the company for another five years, which will only take effect after March 2017, which means that her contract will only end in March 2022.

In addition, the company is seeking to maintain ownership of all GEM's work, including her stage name.

Hummingbird also demanded that GEM pay the company damages should she choose to continue with her plans to leave the company, stating that it would suffer a loss of HKD 40 million per year until 2022 from cancelled shows and endorsements.
