Hu Ge's new film selected for Cannes' Palme d'Or

25 Apr – Hu Ge's new film, "The Wild Goose Lake" has been selected as one of the competitors for this year Palme d'Or at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival.

As reported on Epoch Times, the movie, directed by Diao Yinan ("Black Coal, Thin Ice"), served as the first film for Hu since his return from the United States after taking a long hiatus to focus on his studies.

It tells the story of biker gang leader on the run and a desperate woman gambling their destiny at a train station in South China.

It is also reported that "The Wild Goose Lake" is the only Chinese movie selected for the main competition, and will be competing with other films from award-winning directors like Ken Loach ("Sorry We Missed You"), Terrence Malik ("A Hidden Life"), and Bong Joon-ho ("Parasite").

Hu will return with two other new films this year aside from the said movie, including the upcoming biopic "LINA".
