It seems that Captain America isn’t as squeaky clean as we thought…
A new video has appeared online, editing all of Captain America’s confirmed kills together into one awesome supercut. But with ‘Captain America: Civil War’ on the horizon, it reminds us of the real, human cost of those superhero shenanigans.
After all, it makes #TeamIronMan seem all the more reasonable…
But the video reveals a shocking statistic about Captain America – his total kill count.
According to Mr Sunday Movies, the all-American superhero isn’t quite as non-lethal as we like to think… with a staggering 14,089 kills under his belt.
It almost puts The Winter Soldier to shame.
Here are their rules:
“Anyone hit in the head or neck by Captain America’s shield is considered a dead person,” they explain. “In previous Kill Count video’s robots don’t count, but in this one they do. In case of the uprising.”
According to the video, Cap racks up the most kills during ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’ with his least lethal film being ‘Avengers: Assemble’.
Better yet, the video shows how the MCU tallies Cap’s kills… and why they’re way out.
‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’ for example, estimates the helicarrier deaths toll to be a rather conservative 23 people. That’s 23 people aboard the entire S.H.I.E.L.D. airship, even though it was supposed to be launching at ‘full capacity’.
Something about that statistic doesn’t quite add up.
In fact, the video instead estimates a more realistic (or slightly overblown) estimate of 13,980 including those affected by the blast as well as those on board the helicarrier. Surely that’s a bit more like it.
Of course, this begs the question – is Iron Man justified in asking for the regulation of superheroes? And will the death toll rise in ‘Captain America: Civil War’?
For now, we’ll have to wait and see.
‘Captain America: Civil War’ heads to cinemas on 29 April 2016.
