I don’t need to tell you how much of a disappointment the last season of Game of Thrones was. The internet has all the receipts of why Season 8 was such an utter letdown. I know, they still had the audacity to release a Game of Thrones trailer to rub it in all our faces one more time.

Still, the news about a Westeros Broadway play promises some light at the end of the tunnel. Perhaps, Broadway will do all its magic and let show tunes wash away all the pain of dismal finales. So, here is another silver lining; when Game of Thrones was ending, there was talk of six Game of Thrones prequels that were in the works. One of the first ones is especially exciting, and it’s called ‘House of the Dragon‘.

Yes, bring on the fire and blood. Here are some pictures of the cast at a socially distanced table read and it’s looking real promising. ‘House of the Dragon’ will be centred on none other than the silvery-haired Targaryens but set 300 years before the events of Westeros. You know the Targaryens, the ones who can control dragons and their family has just the slightest touch of incest. It makes for great television if you ask me.

As for the cast, I have to say I’m thoroughly impressed. There is the magical pixie Olivia Cooke as Alicent Hightower, who if you must know, is the second wife of Viserys I Targaryen. Other formidable cast members include the charming Matt Smith as Prince Daemon Targaryen and Steve Toussaint as Lord Corlys Velaryon a.k.a. The Sea Snake. All these names and characters are just adding the rich Targaryen lore and I’m here for it.

House of the Dragon is set to premiere in 2022 which is still quite a while away. In the meantime, I’ll be devouring everything that George R.R Martin has written so that I’m abreast of all things Targaryen.
