The Hottest Restaurant Reservation in New York Is…Louis Vuitton?
Last week, Louis Vuitton unveiled a massive new store in New York, marking the occasion with an appropriately massive party attended by everyone from fashion editors and influencers to boldfaced names like Bradley Cooper and Ana de Armas. They gathered to gawk at the giant displays of stacked trunks stretching from the lobby all the way to the ceiling of the five-floor luxury destination. They shuffled from the men’s and women’s clothing sections to the first outpost of Le Chocolat Maxime Frédéric at Louis Vuitton in the United States. And they made their way through the library-themed restaurant, Le Café Louis Vuitton, also the very first in the States.
But pretty much everyone in attendance—barring Cooper and de Armas, perhaps—will have a damn difficult time returning for dinner. According to the folks at the famed Parisian fashion label, Le Café is booked out for the next two months, making it one of the hottest reservations in the city. Who wouldn’t, after all, welcome the opportunity to peruse a curated selection of books on fashion and culture and then feast on an exceptional meal while surrounded by some of the coolest clothes in the world?
Okay, granted, the idea might seem a little specific. But Vuitton is not alone when it comes to combining the worlds of high fashion and top-notch dining. Not too far down the street, Nordstrom shoppers can pop upstairs to Wolf, which dishes out Italian food filtered through the sensibilities of the Pacific Northwest. Or you could head over to Le Avenue, brought to you by the fine folks at Saks Fifth Avenue. Prefer to stick to established fashion labels? The Armani Ristorante on Madison Avenue is coming soon. And if you’re feeling up to a quick trip on the subway, there’s always Café Kitsuné in Brooklyn’s Boerum Hill neighborhood.
The driving force here is taste, in both senses of the word. If you trust a brand like Louis Vuitton to dress you for the more important moments in your life, it’s not exactly nuts to presume you might trust the folks in charge of it to serve you a spectacular lunch, too. But if you want to give it a go, you should probably get in touch now. Reservations for 2025 are filling up already.
