Hong Kong singer in tears over mother's COVID-19 diagnosis

28 Jul – Hong Kong singer-songwriter Alan Ho broke into tears as he revealed that his mother has been diagnosed with COVID-19.

As reported on HK01, the singer recently posted a video on Instagram and revealed that he is currently in a quarantine facility in Sai Kung, after his mother was found to have contracted the disease - though assured that he himself got a negative result when he was first tested.

Speaking about his mother's condition, Alan expressed, "The family is a little worried, because she is relatively old, and the same condition has been repeated several times, and she will have fever from time to time. However, the fever was very high in the past two days, and has not disappeared, so I am worried about her condition."

When interviewed by a reporter about the situation, Alan stated that there were not many cases in Sha Tin where they lived, but that his mother contracted the virus after meeting a friend who was diagnosed with it soon after.

As for his own quarantine situation, Alan said that he has no issue staying in the Sai Kung isolation camp, but felt pity for his father who is sent to the quarantine centre in Junyang Village.

"I am worried that he is not used to it because of his age. The facilities in Sai Kung is okay. The rooms are all clean and tidy. The most important thing is that they have air-conditioning and television," he said.

Alan added that he will be able to leave the camp after seven days, but will not be able to visit his mother for the time being.
