In the aftermath of a bitter falling-out between Channel 8 actresses Hong Huifang and Pan Lingling that embroiled starlet Julie Tan in a controversy over her chastity, it appears that relations between Hong and Tan are still friendly, as they appear to have had dinner together on Monday (30 July), if their matching posts on Instagram are anything to go by.

Both Tan and Hong posted images of their meal of duck ramen at around the same time on Instagram Stories. There is currently only one such restaurant serving duck ramen in Singapore – Ginza Kamo Soba Kyudaime Keisuke in Holland Village.

Although both actresses did not post photos of themselves, the decor and ramen bowls pictured are a match with the Kamo Soba restaurant. If they were indeed at the restaurant at the same time, it seems likely that they were dining together.

Yahoo Lifestyle Singapore has reached out to Tan and Hong for comment.

Hong caused a stir in local showbiz recently when she renounced her longtime friendship with Pan through a lengthy text message that she sent to 50 friends.

She was angry after finding out that Pan had advised Hong’s son, 18-year-old Calvert Tay, to get vaccinated against sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) as he was thought to be dating Tan.

Pan reportedly told Tay to get inoculated against STDs because Tan had been in multiple relationships. Tan’s mother, Doris Khaw, said Pan confirmed to her that she had made such comments when Pan called Khaw to apologise.

Tan, 25, later said she was not dating Tay, claiming that they are just good friends.

She previously told local Chinese media that she was grateful to Hong for speaking up for her and for “protecting” her by not telling her what Pan had said about her earlier.

Over the weekend, celebrity hairstylist David Gan made posts on Instagram in support of his friend Pan Lingling, saying that she was a “traditional” and “old-fashioned” person who “believed in chastity before marriage”.

He also said that “every mother would be protective over their kids and warn them to take care when going into a public toilet”, although it was unclear what he meant by the comment.

Gan’s Instagram Story post has since expired but screenshots of the post were shared by netizens.

Tan had previously discussed her three past relationships in interviews, including those with local model Ng Yuze, an anonymous businessman, and a Turkish national, who has sometimes been referred to in the media as being “Caucasian”.

She said that just because she had been through a few unsuccessful relationships did not mean that she was a promiscuous woman as Pan had seemed to imply.
