Hollyoaks star Matthew James-Bailey confirms Ethan's doubts in Rafe plot
Hollyoaks spoilers follow.
Hollyoaks star Matthew James-Bailey has confirmed his doubts for Ethan Williams and Sienna Blake in their ongoing plot to scam Rafe Harcourt out of his fortune.
In recent months, Matthew's character Ethan and his on-screen partner Sienna staged a fake break-up so that Sienna could pretend to be in love with Rafe aka the Earl of Dee, marry him and then claim half of his fortune.
Speaking to Inside Soap about their plan to get Sienna to marry another man for money, Matthew said that at first his character thought the con would be easy.

"I think he let his intrusive thoughts win on that one," said Matthew. "Obviously, it was never going to end well, but there's always a scheme going on with Sienna and Ethan. The plan sounded so easy but Ethan didn't fully think it out, especially the possibility of Sienna falling in love with this other guy."
When asked if he thinks Sienna has developed real feelings for Rafe, Matthew said: "Yes, and we're seeing glimmers of regret about this whole thing. Ethan doesn't want to go any further and tries to convince Sienna to call off the con, but she is in too deep.
"The reason her and Ethan are doing this is to have a better life for them and the twins. You know Sienna, she'll do anything to get what she wants - so there's no stopping her."

Teasing fans with what's to come, Matthew opened up about his doubts over whether Ethan can really watch Sienna wed another man.
"It's going to be a really hard task," he said. "I know I couldn't watch the love of my life do that, and know that potentially they could fall in love with someone else for real. It's a lot for Ethan to shoulder so we'll have to see what plays out."
