Hilary Duff has hit out at "young millennials" who have defied government advice to stay at home amid the coronavirus pandemic by continuing to go out partying.

The Lizzie McGuire star shared the strongly worded message on her Instagram Stories on Sunday, commenting in the video clip: "To you all you young, millennial a*sholes that keep going out and partying, go home. Stop killing old people please."

She also asked her fans for advice on what she and husband Matthew Koma should watch after finishing Netflix smash Love Is Blind, admitting they were pondering re-watching Game of Thrones in its entirety.

Hilary's post about the coronavirus crisis comes after Ariana Grande and Taylor Swift shared similar messages urging people to take it much more seriously.

After Ariana sarcastically tweeted that "your hip hop yoga class can f**king wait", Taylor wrote on Instagram: "I love you so much and need to express my concern that things aren't being taken seriously enough right now.

"I'm seeing lots of get-togethers and hangs and parties still happening. This is the time to cancel plans, actually truly isolate as much as you can and don't assume that because you don't feel sick that you aren't possibly passing something on to someone elderly or vulnerable to this."

She concluded: "It's a really scary time, but we need to make sacrifices right now."
