Herman Ho to leave Voice Entertainment

19 Feb – Amid reports that Eric Tsang is working hard to repair TVB's relationship with Universal Music, Warner Music, and Sony Music, it was revealed that Voice Entertainment CEO Herman Ho will be resigning from the record label.

As reported on Mingpao, the music producer, who introduced singers like Jinny Ng, Hana Kuk, and Fred Cheng into the Hong Kong music industry, revealed recently that he will be leaving his post on 28 February - reportedly so that he could develop his own music business.

When asked about it, TVB executive Sandy Yu, who is married to Herman, dismissed the idea that her husband's resignation has anything to do with Eric's appointment as TVB Deputy General Manager and Special Advisor to the Executive Committee, saying that Herman had been thinking about resigning for the past two to three months.

"He has produced over 400 songs with TVB and had to deal with a lot of administration work. It had been quite a busy job. He thought it was time for him to start his own thing," she said.

On the other hand, Herman stated that he is planning to start a new music label and try to produce other types of works.

"In the past seven years at Voice Entertainment, I produced about 50 songs every year, which is a lot of work. I believe that Eric has the ability to do a good job and I am very happy that a senior is taking over," he said.

However, the music producer admitted that he has yet to make any plans on which singer he will recruit.

Singers like Jinny Ng and Hubert Wu expressed sadness over Herman's departure, and wished him well at the same time. Hubert expressed, "The news came so sudden. I wish Herman will have a smooth job in the future."
