It's been a minute since Disney and Pixar joined forced to create a hit film, but it looks like we're about to be graced with the studios' movie magic once again. This time around will take us into rather unique waters. And yes, you are most welcome for the unintentional clue for what's ahead.

Luca, the newest movie to join the Disney/Pixar family, is rather different than its predecessors. Even its premise is a little whimsical, as it follows a young sea monster named Luca (voiced by Wonder actor Jacob Tremblay) who transforms into a human on the Italian Riviera in the '50s and explores the coastal town of Portorosso with his best friend/fellow sea monster Alberto (Jack Dylan Grazer). It all sounds a bit like Call Me By Your Name to me, but hey—that movie did pretty well too!

If you're already interested in the plot, you'll probably want to binge it. Lucky for all of us not willing to venture out of the house (we're too comfy in sweats, TBH), Luca is actually super easy to watch. Here's the scoop on how to watch Luca the day it drops into our ever-so-patiently-waiting laps.

How can I watch Luca right now?

Good thing a holiday weekend is coming up (speaking of which...why don't you binge these movies with your dad to celebrate Father's Day?), because come June 18 you'll get the chance to see what the hype around Luca is all about. But fully-vaxxed L.A. people, it's your lucky day. The El Capitan Theatre will simultaneously be running the movie alongside Disney+, so if you're vaccinated and willing to trek over to the cinema, by all means...please go and celebrate this glorious occasion!

Awesome! Now is Luca streaming (for free)?

So here's the tricky answer: Luca isn't free...but it's also not as pricey as its predecessors. Unlike more recent Disney+ movies (like you know, Cruella), Luca doesn't require you to get Disney+ Premier Access and pay $30 to see it on the streaming site. Yay! BUT—and it's a big one here—you still need to have a subscription to Disney+ in order to see it. Because what would life be like these days without having a million streaming sites to see the latest and greatest movies?

Sweet. Now how do I get myself a Disney+ account?

Getting a Disney+ account is super easy, and it's $7.99 a month. Now, for just a few dollars more you can get a complete bundle which includes Hulu and ESPN+. But for Luca purposes? Yeah, all you'll have to do is stick to Disney+, and you'll get full-time access to what could be your next favorite animated movie.
