Heart Evangelista is not in China for "Crazy Rich Asians" sequel

18 Jan – While netizens have been entertaining the idea of Heart Evangelista being part of the "Crazy Rich Asians" sequel, sources are now saying that her trip to China may have nothing to do at all with the Hollywood franchise.

According to PEP, an industry insider recently clarified that there is no way for Evangelista, who sparked aforementioned rumours when she wrote ambiguous posts about her project in China, is doing the movie, as the script for the sequel has yet to be written.

The source is also saying that director Jon Chu, who previously helmed the first movie, is currently focused on doing a different project.

It is noted that Chu had also previously expressed interest to helm a biopic about Arnel Pineda, the Filipino vocalist of the American rock band Journey.

On the other hand, the rest of the "Crazy Rich Asians" stars have been busy with their own projects, with lead actress Constance Wu already back in Los Angeles while Henry Golding is currently in Milan.

Previously, many speculated that Evangelista's China trip might have something to do with the hit Hollywood film. Some believed that the actress is the perfect fit to play Colette Bing, wealthy heiress and social media influencer that appears in the second instalment of the CRA franchise, titled "China Rich Girlfriend".
