Heart Evangelista is one of the most beautiful actresses to appear on TV and movie screens nowadays. But did you know that growing up, she initially wanted to become an ice skater or a veterinarian due to her love for dogs? She says that being an ‘artista’ is just third on her list.
“My grandfather used to own a production company called Everlasting Pictures. I grew up with a lot of artistas and reporters and I’d always be starstruck,” she says. It can be considered a blessing in disguise that she got #3 on her wish list so Filipinos will be able to see and marvel at her talent.
In an exclusive interview with Yahoo! Southeast Asia during Cream Silk's Limitless Beauty event, Heart opens up about her long road to success in the industry starting with her first memorable guest appearance in the now defunct ABS-CBN show called G-Mik. “I passed the auditions dressed up the way I wanted to dress up and my role is created just for me so it made a huge impact because I became more confident and I believe in myself that … if you’re a good person and you love what you’re doing then it will get you somewhere.”

While starting out in the industry, Heart says she looks up to Claudine Barretto as an actress especially during the run of popular soap ‘Mula sa Puso.’ “I remember standing in front of the mirror and trying to produce tears. I was obsessed,” she admits.
Fast forward to today and Heart is now one of GMA 7’s most in-demand actresses. She says that she is proud of everything that she has done – and that includes all the ups and downs. “I’m proud that I could still laugh and smile today. Everything that I’ve experienced, work or personal is all connected so I’m proud of the whole thing.”
It is no secret that Heart is embroiled in a sensitive family feud with her parents and her current boyfriend Senator Chiz Escudero. However in spite of this, Heart remains strong and resilient. “Even if I don’t know at this point what lesson I need to learn with what I am facing now. I’m proud that I can still wake up in the morning and do my thing,” she says.
