Harry Styles keeps his clothes under 24 hour surveillance in a giant frozen vault.

We all try our best to store our clothes properly, but the ‘One Direction’ star arguably takes the biscuit.

His unusual clothes storing system was revealed by designer Harris Reed – who worked with Styles to create his custom outfit for his ‘Lights Up’ music video – in an interview with British GQ.

“I can’t say where it is located, but everything goes to an archive. It’s basically like a giant refrigerator — a frozen vault — somewhere in London where I am not going to disclose,” the Central St. Martins graduate told the publication.

“But the clothes all have 24 hours surveillance, which you can look at via an iPad, specifically done for his outfits, and they have all been cryogenically frozen in time to preserve them.”

He added: “That’s also what is more surreal for me. After his first solo tour that I produced 14-15 looks for — he wore about six or seven — I was wondering where the others were and he was like, ‘Don’t worry, they are all under surveillance.’ I was like, ‘Oh, that’s chic.’”

As for us norms, we may not have access to a giant clothes refrigerator to keep our M&S wool jumpers safe, but there are still measures we can take to keep our clothes looking their best when they’re not being worn.

Will Lankston, operations director at Jeeves, a Royal Warrant-holding dry cleaner and garment care service, has provided his top tips for Yahoo UK on how to best store your clothes:

  1. Don’t pack your wardrobe or drawers too tightly. It is important that your clothes are allowed to breathe between wears. Overpacking your wardrobe or drawers can result in creased clothes but can also damage delicate materials like silk.

  2. Store your garments in breathable garment covers. This helps to protect against moths and also provides some protection against creasing.

  3. Place moth repellent sachets in your wardrobes and drawers and replenish them regularly. Wool and cashmere are particularly high risk but moths will go for any natural fibres.

  4. Ensure your garments are clean before storing them for any extended period of time. Moths are attracted to natural oils found on the skin, so storing clothes that have been worn places them at higher risk.

  5. Always remove your garments from the plastic wrapping that they often come back from the dry cleaner in. It is important for your clothes to breathe and in humid places, this plastic wrapping can cause mould to develop. A number of dry cleaners are moving away from this single use plastic wrapping in favour of reusable garment covers.

  6. Avoid hanging delicate silk garments and knitwear on hangers as this can cause them to distort. If the garments have hanging loops, use them or alternatively, fold them and place them in a drawer or fold them over a hanger bar.
