Harry Shum Jr. joins Sylvester Stallone's action movie

Production on the third instalment has started ahead of the second movie's release

Harry Shum Jr. is set for an action movie next, alongside Sylvester Stallone.

20 Sep – Despite "Escape Plan 2: Hades" not out in cinemas yet, it seems that the production studio has already starting working on its follow-up movie, "Escape Plan 3: Devil's Station".

Deadline brought words that Harry Shum Jr., who found fame with his roles in "Glee" and "Shadowhunters", is now set to join Sylvester Stallone in the upcoming instalment.

Also featuring Tyler Jon Olson and Sergio Rizzuto as part of the cast, the action movie will be helmed by John Herzfeld based on a script by Miles Chapman, who wrote the first two films.

The threequel will explore the kidnapping of the daughter of a Hong Kong tech executive, whose culprit is the deranged son of one of Breslin's (Stallone) former enemies. As the team investigates more, they learn that Breslin's love has also been captured by the same perpetrator and is being held in a massive prison known as the Devil's Station.

Shum Jr. will take on the role of Bao, a member of Breslin's team who joins in on the rescue mission.

Released by Summit Entertainment in 2013, the original "Escape Plan" starring Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger took in USD137 million worldwide with most of its gross coming from China.

The sequel, "Escape Plan 2: Hades", directed by Steven C. Miller and starring Stallone, Dave Bautista, Jaime King, Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson and Jesse Metcalfe, is set for release in 2018.

Prior to appearing in "Escape Plan 3: Devil's Station", next year Shum Jr. will be seen in "Crazy Rich Asians", which was shot in Malaysia and Singapore earlier this year.
