“Harry Potter’s” young Severus Snape is now a total hottie

One of the most heartbreaking things we’ve ever seen is Severus Snape’s flashback scene in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2. If you saw this movie in theaters, then you most likely remember that scene causing every single muggle in the cinema to sob in sync. Though everything about this particular flashback was devastating, at least there’s one good thing that came out of it all: the actor who played young Snape.

His name is Benedict Clarke and, back when the movie was released in 2011, he was only 15 years old.

Now, at the age of 19, this is what he looks like:

“This is not an attractive photograph but it’s the Rocky fuckin’ Mountains, so,” wrote Benedict, captioning the above Instagram. (We politely disagree.)

A magical side-by-side:

As if it couldn’t get any better, Benedict also opened up about his time with the late, great Alan Rickman. “I told him I was terrified that my nose was far too small for the part,” Clarke explained, according to MTV. “And [Rickman] said, ‘Don’t worry, my nose was exactly the same size as yours when I was your age.’” (We love this memory so much we’d like to preserve it in a pensieve.)

Though he will always be young Severus Snape to us, Benedict has also acted in three short films since his Harry Potter days. Plus, he’s now traveling across America – Jack Kerouac-style.

In the end, both young and old Severus Snape will have a special place in our hearts. Always.
