It has been exactly two years since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle tied the knot in front of a global audience of billions at Windsor Castle.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will celebrate their second wedding anniversary more than 6,000 miles away in their new home of Los Angeles - after stepping down as senior royals earlier this year.

According to Bazaar.com’s royal editor-at-large Omid Scobie, the couple are marking the occasion at home in lockdown.

They have both cleared their work schedules, with plans to enjoy a “lovely” family moment with their one-year-old son Archie.

A source, close to the couple, said: “The day will simply be quality time with one another and as a family.

“They're not going to be doing any work and made sure they have no meetings or calls in the diary."

They added: “Like everyone else, they are in lockdown at the moment, so they will just be hanging out together at home.

“But it will still be a lovely day."

Last year, Harry, 35, gave Meghan, 38, a bespoke diamond eternity band, created by jeweller Lorraine Schwartz from conflict-free birthstones representing the couple and their little boy.

During the pandemic they are understood to have been working with charities, and also plotting the launch of their non-profit organisation Archewell.

At the beginning of this month, the duke and duchess celebrated their son’s first birthday.

To mark the occasion, they released a video of Meghan reading Archie the book Duck! Rabbit!.

The clip was posted on Save The Children’s Instagram account as part of its ‘Save With Stories’ campaign, which is helping to bring food and learning resources to children impacted by coronavirus.

In the footage, filmed by Harry, the duchess is seen sporting a relaxed denim shirt thought to be from one of her go-to brands, J Crew.

Baby Archie, who hadn’t been pictured since December 2019, wore a simple white onesie and showed off a strong head of strawberry blonde hair.

Jennifer Garner - who launched the ‘Save With Stories’ project with fellow actress Amy Adams - thanked the couple for taking part.

In a post on her own Instagram account, she wrote: ““Dear Meghan and Harry,

“Thank you for sharing your gorgeous son with the world and allowing us to join you in celebrating his first birthday.

“We are humbled and grateful that you chose @savewithstories to mark this special day and in so doing - have raised the visibility of @savethechildren’s work in the US and UK and have helped feed and educate children in desperate need of both.”
