The Cambridges, the Elbas and the youngest member of the Beckham family have topped Tatler’s list of “socially significant” people this year.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, both 37, came in first place in the society bible’s debut Social Power Index – a rank befitting of the future King of England and his wife.

Meanwhile, seven-year-old Harper Beckham – whose parents David and Victoria have been dubbed “the King and Queen of celebrity” – made fourth place on the list.

The celebrity minor, who last February sat next to US Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour at her mother’s London Fashion Week show, is described as a "front-row fixture" who "jets between Los Angeles, London and the Cotswolds".

Coming in second place was another power couple: Idris Elba and his third wife Sabrina (formerly Dhowre).

The pair, who married in April this year, cemented their place in high society when they attended the royal wedding of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry in May last year.

Joseph Getty – son of Getty Images chairman Mark Getty and part of the Getty family empire – and his wife, jewellery designer Sabine, came in third place.

Others to make the top 10 included ex-England footballer Jamie Redknapp (6) and BBC political editor Laura Kuenssberg (7).

Also on the list was Little Mix singer Perrie Edwards and her footballer boyfriend Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (9), who "embody modern glamour and success".

The Tatler list of course had to include eminent members of the aristocracy, with The Hon Will and Lohralee Astor (5), Lord and Lady Bamford (8) and the Marquess and Marchioness of Cholmondeley (10) also featuring.

The Sussexes were nowhere to be seen on the top 10 list, but they did feature in the rest of the Social Power Index (which is not numbered). The publication said they were "crowned the king and queen of global glamour".

Elsewhere in the Index featured comedian Jack Whitehall, Brooklyn Beckham and girlfriend Hana Cross, Sir Mick Jagger, Sir Elton John and David Furnish, Dame Joan Collins and Kate Moss and her boyfriend Count Nikolai von Bismarck.

Moss’ daughter Lila also featured alongside Jeremy Clarkson, James Blunt and his wife Sofia Wellesley, and the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall.
