Happy National Sneakers Day! FN Editors Spotlight Their Favorite Styles

It’s National Sneakers Day! To celebrate this year, we’ve rounded up our editors’ go-to picks. Scroll on to see what sneakers made the cut.

Hoka One One Clifton 7

“I love my Hoka One One Clifton 7 sneakers because they literally feel like I’m walking on clouds. I’ve taking up running to calm my nerves since the pandemic and investing in a pair of good running shoes was one of the best decisions I’ve made. The trendy lavender/lime colorway and chunky sole allows me to get away with wearing them while doing errands on the weekends too.” — Editorial Assistant Madeleine Crenshaw

Undefeated x Nike Air Max 90

“I choose to celebrate National Sneakers Day with my Undefeated x Nike Air Max 90 sneakers from 2020 Air Max Day. The sneakers bring life into times that sometimes could use a little pop of color. Serving as the perfect mix between a standout shoe and relaxed footwear, it’s fitting with the growing appreciation for stability and comfort.” — Assistant Digital Editor Claudia Miller

Lego x Adidas ZX 8000

“I was super excited to recently snag a pair of the Lego x Adidas ZX 8000 collab sneakers. I loved playing with Legos when I was growing up, and I can’t wait to build some Lego sets with my son. We might even fight over these sneakers somewhere down the line … just as soon as he learns to walk.” — Deputy Managing Editor Jennie Bell

Hoka One One Arahi 4

“In my Hokas, I’ve never met a run I didn’t like. These sneakers are the only thing keeping me on the trail and away from the couch at the end of the workday.” — Digital News Editor Samantha McDonald

Vault by Vans x Free & Easy OG Sk8-Hi LX

“Life has been challenging for everyone as of late, myself included, and sometimes I need a reminder that things won’t always be this tough. The mellow vibe of the Vault by Vans x Free & Easy OG Sk8-Hi LX makes it the perfect National Sneaker Day choice for me, especially with the sun shining a bit brighter and the weather a little warmer than usual. Just feels appropriate. Also, tie-dye makes everything more fun, so the Sneaker Politics are a must.” — Senior Athletic & Outdoor Editor Peter Verry

Pharrell Williams x Adidas NMD Hu Inspiration

“Clear skies ahead. That’s what I think of when wearing Pharrell Williams x Adidas NMD Hu Inspiration sneakers in the clear blue colorway. Though the shoes are from 2018, they are still my favorite sneakers because what they stand for. The style is embroidered with Chinese characters that translate to “Empower” and “Inspire,” which is a why these are always a go-to. Williams was aiming to spread the power of humanity and diversity when he launched the Hu collection in 2016 and he continues to do so with each new drop. I’m more than happy to show these off for National Sneakers Day.” — Women’s Editor Nikara Johns

Nike Space Hippie 01

“I’m wearing my Nike Space Hippie shoes today because, not only do they give me major cred with sneakerheads, I always feel proud about showing up in footwear that is sustainable. The Space Hippie 01 is made of at least 50% recycled materials. In these unprecedented times, I am — like many other people — doing more introspection. And one of the areas of my life where I can make an immediate impact on the world is by reducing my carbon footprint. It’s the best two-for-one deal to look good and feel good about what you’re wearing at the same time.” — Deputy Editor Sheena Butler-Young

Koio Metro Crème

“I love my Koio Metro Crème Sneakers. The colorway is super versatile, while the silhouette offers a cool, slightly sporty look reminiscent of classic basketball shoe styles. Like the rest of Koio’s high-quality offerings, the leather pair is handmade in the same Italian factories that produce leather goods for Chanel and Hermès — yet are priced much lower than sneakers from those designers. While they did take a few weeks to break in, the shoes now fit like a glove and I can’t stop wearing them, whether it’s to grab groceries (they can easily dress up sweats) or brunch with friends.” Senior Shopping & Fashion Editor Samantha Peters

New Balance Staud 37

“The Staud 327 is the second collaboration sneaker from the L.A. brand and New Balance. I love the neutral palette, the angular rubber soles and the circular treads running up the back of the heel. It has a really easy feel, too.” — Style Director Shannon Adducci
