This Is New Hampshire's Biggest Pumpkin

From Cosmopolitan

The above 2,066-pound pumpkin is believed to be the biggest one ever grown in New Hampshire, WMUR reports. Maine pumpkin carver Moe Auger saw potential in the pumpkin’s natural shape and transformed it into the … thing you see above for all the world to enjoy.

"It already had its own face," Auger, who has been carving pumpkins for 20 years, told the station. "So for us, it’s all about looking at the pumpkin and deciding, really on the spot, what we’re going to be doing." The team who helped Auger carve the pumpkin are calling the theme of the carving “Scream” despite the fact that the final result looks like Dobby’s happy-drunk, fat, molting uncle.

Pictures posted by the NH Giant Pumpkin Growers Association show the pumpkin did indeed vaguely look like it had a face before carving. It also dwarfed all the other pumpkins in this year’s NH State Pumpkin Weigh-Offs on Oct. 16.

The carving will remain in Manchester through Halloween “for everyone … to enjoy,” Auger said and it will be lit up every night for visitors.

Five days until Halloween. Twelve days until the election. Eighteen days ’til my next vacation. Which will be filled with nightmares. Of gargantuan pumpkins. And 2016.
