Halsey made a style statement by dying the roots of her black hair rainbow colours for the 2019 MTV Video Music Awards on Monday.
The 24-year-old singer, who was nominated for seven prizes at the MTV Video Music Awards, stunned in sheer orange Peter Dundas organza dress, worn over a black bralette and eco-friendly leather shorts.
However, it was the Without Me hitmaker's hair that made headlines, as she rocked a perfect rainbow at the roots of her black hair.
Hairstylist Florido Basallo told Stylecaster that not only did Halsey dye her real hair for the ceremony, but the look was also her idea.
"The VMAs is always a little over the top. It's about colour and creativity and standing out with bold colours. Other award shows, such as the Oscars, is when glam is more natural and classic. (Halsey) wanted to do something with her hair that she had never seen before," he shared.
Hair extensions were added to her locks to create waist-length beachy waves, and Basallo smoothed out her hair with the ghd Ceramic Vented Radial Brush, the ghd Air Hair Dryer, and finished off with the ghd Platinum+ Styler.
After waving her hair, he added volume to the ends with Dove Style+Care Compressed Micro Mist Extra Hold Hairspray and clipped her hair back behind her ears.
Make-up artist Denika Bedrossian finished off Halsey's "edgy and feminine look with a modern twist" with Covergirl make-up, such as the collection's Full Spectrum Color Idol Lipstick in Hustle on her cheeks as blush.
The singer switched up her outfit for the ceremony itself and coordinated her rainbow hair with a multi-coloured marble-effect dress with cutout midriff by Kim Shui. Halsey shared a snap of the look on Instagram and called the dress "my favorite-est thing ever (sic)".
