When Calls the Heart has been a huge hit with Hallmark viewers since it premiered in 2014.
The period drama is about to enter its sixth season, which will undoubtedly be a tough one for superfans, also known as “Hearties,” to adjust to after Elizabeth Thatcher (Erin Krakow) lost her husband, Jack (Daniel Lissing). But with a new baby-and help from her pals like Abigail (Lori Loughlin)-Elizabeth and loyal viewers alike will both find a way to move past Jack’s death. Where is it filmed?
The fictional small town of Hope Valley is actually set in the very real city of Vancouver in British Columbia, Canada, according to the Huffington Post. CountryLiving.com confirmed that this year’s Christmas movie, The Greatest Christmas Blessing, was filmed in Langley, about an hour outside of Vancouver. IMDB lists both of cities as the site for the sets, so they likely film in each of the charming spots.
What time period is it supposed to be in?
The website describes the series as a “sweeping frontier drama.” Huffington Post more closely identifies the era as around 1910. In a sneak peek at season 6 (above), Hope Valley receives its first-ever telephone, which likely means the show is currently around the year 1915, when the device became more common.
Did Jack leave?
Sadly, yes. Season 5 ended in the tragic loss of Elizabeth’s beloved husband, Jack. But the silver lining is that she was pregnant with his baby, a son, who she named in his honor, according to Entertainment Tonight.
Is the show based on a book series?
