Whether we’re coming up with creative ways to cover the greys, fantasising about giving ourselves a fringe a la Marianne from Normal People or longing for the return of salon-perfected locks, we can’t deny we’ve spent a large proportion of lockdown thinking about our hair.

Somehow not being able to visit the hairdresser has made us yearn for a transformative new do, and according to Vogue when the salons finally get the nod to reopen there’s one post-lockdown haircut we’ll all be clambering to get.

“As seen on model Freja Beha Erichsen in Zara’s spring/summer 2020 lookbook, this summer’s most sought-after chop is a jaw-grazing, mussed-up delight that leaves the neck bare, exposing skin to the breeze after a long stint stuck indoors,” Vogue says.

“It makes a statement, but it’s still soft and subtle, as loose and languid as we hope to feel once summer starts in earnest.”

Sally-Kate Duboux, hair stylist at Hair By Duboux agrees the do could well be this summer’s most wanted.

“We have seen Zara's Spring /summer 2020 lookbook modelled by Freja Beha Erichsen and we are now all wanting her haircut for life out of lockdown, making it this years hottest haircut trend,” she says.

Duboux says the do has morphed from one of the most popular looks earlier this year.

“Back before lockdown the haircut of the century brought back the Bob and the Asymmetric Bob, giving a subtle nod to our 1920s predecessors of the flapper girl era,” she explains. “Such an iconic hair cut, paving the way for the 2020 on trend style.”

According to Duboux not being able to visit a stylist, coupled with growing out styles has left us longing for change.

“Lockdown has meant our fashion forward bobs have grown out, giving us mid length wispy ends. With the drastic changes we have had to adopt, brings a wave of need for change. Including a change of hairstyle!” she explains.

And this particular style is a works-for-everyone do.

“This versatile hair cut works perfectly for both fine and thicker hair types,” Duboux explains. “This one length cut frames the face whilst really enhancing the jawbone.

“The hair is cut on a slight angle making it every so slightly longer at the front and shorter at the back. The nape of the neck is more exposed giving a feminine and elegant feel,” she adds.

But those with super curly hair types should approach with caution.

“Please bear in mind that this style will require more time in styling so is less of a get up and go hair style,” she says.

And giving the look some summer texture is key.

“This on trend style is perfect for the texture that summer brings - breezy 'beachy' waves with a light spritz of Bumble & Bumble surf Spray,” Duboux adds. “Alternatively this cut looks just as stunning with a smoother sleeker finish, with softly tucked end.”
