  • Hailey Bieber recently opened up about how her childhood was much different than Justin Bieber’s childhood.

  • Hailey called Justin’s experience “crazier” than her upbringing.

Hailey and Justin Bieber might be a famous It Couple now, but that wasn’t always the case. Justin hopped on the music scene when he was a teenager, but Hailey spent her adolescence out of the spotlight. When Justin was going on tours before he was even old enough to drive, Hailey was being homeschooled and perfecting her ballet routines. She recently spoke to Vogue India about how vastly different their upbringings were.

“To be honest, I don’t really think I was ever famous,” she admitted. “Of course, I knew my father was an actor and he was famous to an extent, but if I was to compare how I grew up to how Justin did, he’s had a way crazier ‘famous’ experience really young.”

Hailey grew up in Arizona and didn’t make the move to L.A. until she was much older. But it’s not like she was a nobody. She was modeling, hanging out with the Jenners, and sparking Shawn Mendes dating rumors.

Despite this, she says her fame didn’t come until much more recently. “I got to grow up and get my driver’s license and really be normal until the past three years of my life,” she continued.

Once Hailey started dating Justin on and off from 2015 to 2016, her days of being under the radar were gone. Once they got back together for good in June 2018, they shortly wed in September 2018. A year later, they had a ceremony in South Carolina.

When it comes to being famous, she says it’s not always easy. “I think the biggest thing I’ve struggled with is I compare myself to people a lot,” Hailey said during a Hillsong Channel interview. “It’s not that people expect anything, it’s just that I don’t want to disappoint the family that I come from. I don’t want to be this ‘train wreck’ to anybody. It’s about carrying the name in a positive way.”

Well, if you ask me, she’s doing a pretty great job.
