Guardians Of The Galaxy Will Appear In Avengers: Infinity War, Vin Diesel Confirms

It seems we have official confirmation that the Guardians of the Galaxy will indeed appear in the upcoming ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ - and it comes from no less an authority than the voice of Groot himself.

Yes, Vin Diesel has told fans on Facebook that the deep space misfits will join forces with Earth’s Mightiest Heroes in the third film in Marvel’s flagship crossover series, to be directed by Joe and Anthony Russo.

Diesel told followers in a livestream, “Next year you’ve got ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’ coming and that whole concept started from you all saying 'when are you gonna be in a Marvel movie?’

“And you remember the first picture after that Marvel meeting that I had where I was standing [with] the Avengers thing in the back – some of you can look up that picture…there was this old Avengers copy that was behind me in that picture if you look back on my Facebook page you can find that.”

Here’s that first photograph Diesel is referring to, from back in July 2013, just prior to his casting in the original ‘Guardians of the Galaxy.’

The actor continued, “What’s gonna be surreal is that picture is going to come to pass because now the Guardians will be included in 'Avengers: Infinity War’ and that’s incredibly exciting. Incredibly exciting.

“Incredibly exciting and something that if you were a part of our page you knew before everybody."

Of course, given that it has long been known that galactic supervillain Thanos would be the central antagonist of ‘Avengers: Infinity War,’ and to date Thanos’ only substantial appearance has been in ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ (plus very brief mid-credits cameos in the first two ‘Avengers’ movies), it had long seemed likely the Guardians and the Avengers would be teaming up.

Even so, this is the first time anyone directly involved in the films has publicly declared that it WILL happen – and for fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it’s exciting news indeed.

Before that, we’ll see Diesel’s Groot, Chris Pratt’s Star-Lord, Zoe Saldana’s Gamora, Dave Bautista’s Drax, Bradley Cooper’s Rocket Raccoon, Michael Rooker’s Yondu, Karen Gillan’s Nebula and ‘Guardians’ newbie Pom Klementieff as Mantis in ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2,’ opening in UK cinemas on 28 April 2017.

‘Avengers: Infinity War’ will follow on 27 April 2018, with the as-yet untitled fourth ‘Avengers’ due in 2019.
