'The Greatest Showman' is the UK's best-selling film once again

The first film to top the Official Film Chart in 2019 has been revealed as The Greatest Showman. The Hugh Jackman musical continues to be a runaway success, and it was clearly the film most people wanted to snap up with their Christmas money in the first week of January.

With no major new DVD releases last week, the Top 10 was dominated by the usual suspects including Avengers: Infinity War, The Meg, and Mission: Impossible – Fallout, which all continue to fly off shelves.

The chart, published every Wednesday, ranks the biggest selling films on disc and download for each week. It is the product of a partnership between the Official Charts Company, the British Association for Screen Entertainment and incorporates data from retailer members of the Entertainment Retailers Association.
