‘The Great Wall’ Brings Zhang Yimou & Matt Damon To New York Comic-Con
EXCLUSIVE: The Great Wall is coming to the Theatre at Madison Square Garden for New York Comic-Con. Director Zhang Yimou plus cast members Matt Damon, Jing Tian, Junkai Wang and Pedro Pascal will be appearing onstage at the East Coast confab for a panel presentation on October 8 at 12:30 PM.
Not only will the Academy Award nominee and helmsman of both the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics, the Oscar winner and Bourne star be in attendance with the Kong: Skull Island actress, the TFBoys singer and the Game Of Thrones alum but there may be more. Some new footage from the big budget Legendary pic will very likely be shown exclusively to the NYCC crowd, I’m hearing. An initial trailer for the pic was dropped in late July.
Billed as the largest film ever shot entirely in China and Yimou’s first English-language production, The Great Wall will be released in 3D by Universal on February 17, 2017.
The film tells the tale of an elite force making a last stand on the Middle Kingdom’s most iconic barrier – or as the first trailer called it “one of mankind’s greatest wonders.” The Great Wall was written by Carlo Bernard and Doug Miro, with the most recent draft from Tony Gilroy, who penned those Bourne films you may have heard of that Damon was in
New York Comic-Con runs from October 6 – 9 this year.
