Grandiose shows mark the first weekend of New York Fashion Week

Rag & Bone presented a resolutely urban collection, poised somewhere between ultra chic designs and streetwear silhouettes, with layers, juxtapositions of materials, and subdued hues with pops of color. New York, September 6, 2019

New York Fashion Week's first weekend was filled with spectacular shows by Tommy Hilfiger (at the Apollo Theater) and Pyer Moss (at the Kings Theatre). While the former opted for a contemporary twist on 1970s classics for its collaboration with actress and singer Zendaya, shown against a grandiose backdrop, the latter once again paid homage to its African heritage with a refined, glamorous collection presented amid an impressive décor, and scored by a 60-member choir with full orchestra. Here are a selection of images from NYFW's first weekend.
