In "Momentary Bliss," Gorillaz collaborated with rapper slowthai and the punk group Slaves. The new track has been accompanied by the announcement of "Song Machine," an animated series that will feature and provide visuals for the group's new titles. Each episode will include studio sequences, interviews with the band's real musicians, and also with the band's animated virtual members.

"'Song Machine' is a whole new way of doing what we do," declared the band's drummer Russel in a statement reported in Pitchfork. "Gorillaz breaking the mould 'cos the mould got old. World is moving faster than a supercharged particle, so we've gotta stay ready to drop. We don't even know who's stepping through the studio next. Song Machine feeds on the unknown, runs on pure chaos. So whatever the hell's coming, we're primed and ready to produce like there's no tomorrow. Y'know, just in case...."

After a six-year hiatus, Gorillaz released the albums "Humanz" in 2017 and "The Now Now" in 2018. The group also featured in a 2019 documentary, "Gorillaz: Reject False Icons," which focused on these two projects.
