Google Nest Hub launches in Singapore at S$189

SINGAPORE — Today (25 June), Google launches the Nest Hub, a smart speaker with screen to help you get things done at a glance. Incorporated with the Google Assistant, the smart speaker remembers your voice across a slew of programmes like Search, YouTube, Google Photos, Calendar, Maps and more. The smart speaker comes in two colours: Charcoal and Chalk.

Fans in Singapore can purchase the Google Nest Hub for S$189 through M1, COURTS, Challenger and Google Store, and get a free Google Assistant compatible Mi Home Security Camera 360° 1080P by Xiaomi. The promotion will be also coming to the Google Store in July.

At the press launch, Mickey Kim, Google’s Director for APAC Hardware Business said, “Since its launch last year, Google Home has been a welcome addition in the homes of busy families who turn to it to get daily help, answers, or enjoy entertainment. We are building on Google Assistant to make it more useful to Singaporeans, and we are thrilled to introduce a new member to the Nest family that helps us take this further. Through a smart display, Google Nest Hub offers an additional layer of interactivity and more detailed help to elevate the smart home experience and bring families and friends closer together."

What the Google Nest Hub can do

First impressions

Design-wise, the 7” screen looks sturdy, with soft-rounded corners. It also comes equipped with Ambient EQ light sensor, where it readjusts your photos to match the colour and lighting in its environment. Voice control is activated with just, ‘Hey, Google’.

Photos uploaded without hassle

New photos will show up automatically on the smart speaker and anyone you’ve shared with will see the latest photos too.

Watch YouTube

With the voice command, you can watch music videos, content creators from YouTube’s video catalogue.

Control your home devices

Using the Google Home app, connect all of your compatible devices to the smart speaker - and turn off lights, TVs, cameras with just a swipe.

The kitchen’s assistant

The smart speaker is connected to Food Network and Tasty’s broad offerings of recipes and how-tos. A simple “Hey Google, show me how to dice an onion” will pause the recipe and play a how-to video to help you get it right.
