Good Wife Spinoff: Bernadette Peters, CSI Vet Paul Guilfoyle Join Cast

Rose Leslie’s Good Wife spinoff character comes from some quality stock.

Bernadette Peters (Smash) and Paul Guilfoyle (CSI) have joined the upcoming series as Lenore and Henry, the parents of Diane’s goddaughter Maia (Leslie) , our sister site Deadline reports.

Lenore has a working-class background and is a financial genius. Henry is a financial advisor who has done very well for himself — thanks, in large part, to Lenore’s help in expanding their family’s private investment firm — and who is adored by many. The family enjoys something of a celebrity status in Chicago.

Both roles are recurring.

The new series — debuting in February 2017 on CBS, before moving exclusively to the network’s streaming service CBS All Access — picks up one year after the events of the Good Wife finale. An enormous financial scam has destroyed the reputation of Leslie’s Maia, while simultaneously wiping out Diane’s savings. Forced out of Lockhart & Lee, Diane and Maia join Lucca Quinn (the returning Cush Jumbo) at one of Chicago’s pre-eminent law firms.

In addition, executive producer Brooke Kennedy will direct the spinoff’s premiere.

Broadway legend Peters also has a long TV resume that includes stints on Will & Grace, Grey’s Anatomy, Ugly Betty and Mozart in the Jungle.

In addition to playing CSI‘s Jim Brass for 317 episodes, Guilfoyle has appeared on numerous TV series including Now and Again, Ally McBeal and Colony.
