Singaporeans can finally grab a cup of Gong Cha again when the bubble tea chain opens its flagship store on Friday (1 December) at noon.

The flagship store is located on the ground floor of the newly-revamped SingPost Centre, located just beside Paya Lebar MRT Station. Gong Cha Singapore made the announcement via its Facebook page on Tuesday night (28 November), after a nearly-six-month hiatus from the local market.

The brand, which originated in Taiwan, was replaced by homegrown brand Liho, a bubble tea chain helmed by local entrepreneur Rodney Tang. The 46-year-old was the former franchise owner of Gong Cha in Singapore before closing all of its 84 outlets islandwide, replacing them with his very own brand.

However, Unison Capital, the parent company of Gong Cha, later announced in June that it would be returning to Singapore. Its operations here will be led by former Managing Director of soya bean chain Mr Bean.

According to media reports, Gong Cha will be introducing new flavours to its bubble tea range. These are, Sweet Potato Milk Tea, Matcha with Red Bean and Brown Sugar Oolong.
