7 Dec – The highly-anticipated Golden Disc Awards 2017 will not be held in Manila next year as previously announced.
As reported on ABS-CBN, the news was revealed by All Access Productions (AAP), one of the local companies responsible for bringing the event to Manila in its Facebook post on 5 December.
Its statement read, "The highly-anticipated 32nd Golden Disc Awards that was confirmed to take place on January 10 to 11, 2018, at the Mall of Asia Arena, Manila, Philippines, would unfortunately be canceled due to the local producer, HM Entertainment's failure to comply with their responsibility to the owner of the original Golden Disc Awards Ceremony, JTBC PLUS."
The company added that their team has tried to resolve the issues with JTBC alongside its South Korean team LUMOS E&M, but that the network instead decided to bring the event back to South Korea.
No news as to where JTBC will hold the awards at the time of writing.
On the other hand, AAP stated that they are currently in discussion to hold the GDA Wave in the Philippines in the first quarter of 2018.
Founded in 1986, the Golden Disc Awards is presented annually by the Music Industry Association of Korea for outstanding achievements in the music industry in South Korea.
It has previously been held in other places outside Korea, including Beijing, China in 2015 and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 2013.
