GMA-7 confirms Regine Velasquez's departure

15 Oct – After much speculations, GMA-7 recently announced that Regine Velasquez is leaving the network.

As reported on PEP, in a statement released on 13 October, the network stated, "After two decades, Regine Velasquez-Alcasid has officially said her goodbyes to the Kapuso Network.

"We understand her decision to join her husband and we wish her well as she pursues other opportunities outside GMA Network."

On the other hand, Velasquez recently said her goodbye on her last show with "Sarap Diva".

Thanking GMA executives like Lilybeth Rasonable, Felipe Gozon, Darling de Jesus, and Gilberto Duavit, the singer stated that she is grateful for all that she has received from the network for the past two decades.

She also expressed her gratitude to the show, saying, "I love everyone I worked with here. That's six years. We're really a family here in Sarap Diva."

Rumours of Velasquez's departure sparked as early as August, with her recent appearance at the ABS-CBN Ball alongside husband Ogie Alcasid further fuelling the speculations.

Velasquez had been a part of the Kapuso network since 1998. Her last show with the network, aside from "Sarap Diva", was the reality talent search "The Clash".
