Gisele Bundchen used to drink sugary coffees for breakfast

Gisele Bundchen used to drink a sweetened coffee and smoke four cigarettes for breakfast in her early twenties.

In an interview with Vogue Australia, the Brazilian supermodel has recalled how she decided to overhaul her diet and lifestyle after anxiety attacks began to make her life "unbearable".

As a young woman, Gisele would begin her day with a sugary iced mocha, and would have steak and fries for dinner, along with a bottle of wine and a packet of cigarettes.

"I felt like I reached rock bottom. It became so unbearable I couldn't breathe, and I thought: 'I gotta change.' It wasn't easy - I had the worst headaches ever because I was withdrawing," she explained, noting that her body went into shock after nicotine and caffeine. "You have to replace bad habits with good habits. So, when I stopped having coffee, the mocha Frappuccino for breakfast and four cigarettes when I woke up in the morning, I started running."

Gisele no longer relies on running to give her mental clarity, and instead, has discovered the benefits of meditation.

"I replaced bad habits with things that were supporting me, and I realised that every day I was feeling better," the 39-year-old stated.

The mother-of-two, who is married to American football star Tom Brady, now embraces a holistic lifestyle, and starts her day at 5.30am to meditate, stretch, drink green juice, and workout.

"You can go and buy all the products you want, but if you are not nourishing your body by eating nutritious food, if you are not exercising and oxygenating your blood and doing things that bring you joy, you are not going to feel good, and if you don't feel good you are not going to look good," she insisted.
