Gisele Bundchen didn't have strong sense of self at height of fame

Gisele Bundchen didn't know who she really was at the height of her modelling career.

The Brazilian beauty, who is one of the most famous models in the world, has had to work hard to keep herself balanced and become more confident.

"It took me a while to find this inner balance," she told U.S. Marie Claire magazine. "For a long time while I was in the public eye, I didn’t know who the real me was, but throughout the years I have been able to use these mindfulness practices to really evaluate myself and embark on a journey of self-discovery... I know that today I am happier because of it."

Yoga and meditation are daily staples for the former Victoria's Secret Angel, who also uses a special breathing technique as a form of "precious" self-care.

"Breathing in itself is incredibly calming. Pranayama breathing in particular has changed my life," she explained.

The model and environmental activist, who is an advocate of an organic and natural lifestyle, also told the magazine that she is a big fan of aromatherapy to cure everyday ailments.

"I love using lavender essential oil in particular to help me peacefully drift off to sleep. Peppermint oil is also great when I have a headache; a drop on my temples usually does the trick. Eucalyptus encourages relaxation and recovery," she shared.

And while Gisele won't eat anything bad for her, she also avoids people who bring negativity into her life.

"I also feel that what we eat, think, and do has a huge impact on our health. Because of that, I am very aware of what types of foods, thoughts, conversations, and people I invite into my life," she stated.
