Gillian Chung supports influencers on video-sharing app
6 Apr – With her husband away working in Taiwan and nothing else to do since her 14-day isolation started, Gillian Chung has been spending her time at home supporting Douyin (TikTok) influencers.
As reported on Mingpao, several netizens recently revealed that they have come across the singer on the said video-sharing app, chatting with other users and watching a live stream by a Douyin celebrity named Yu Yanlong.
She even sent the said influencer over RMB 20,000 in virtual coins as well as other virtual gifts, and was revealed to have actually spent over RMB 400,000 on the platform.
When asked about Gillian's recent activity, her manager stated that the singer has always been following these social media celebrities, though the recent livestream was the first time she sent them gifts.
"All the money wasn't to just one influencer, but several. She follows both female and male influencers and give them gifts to show her support. She was just having fun," she said.
On the other hand, Gillian admitted that she had just learned how to use the app, and has been watching others use the platform in order to familiarise herself with it.
